The original Dodge Viper is a special car -- and today I'm reviewing the 1992 Viper. First I'll take you on a tour of this special Viper and show you all the quirks and features of one of the original Dodge Viper models built; then I'll get the Viper on the road and drive it -- and I'll let you know what it's like behind the wheel of Dodge's modern muscle car, the 1992 Viper RT/10.

Plz do a 92-99 honda prelude
Working production at Toyota...I have learned you really don't want the first 1000 vehicles that run on a new model line. I don't care what manufacturer, the first ones are what everybody in the plant learn from their mistakes on. For example the first couple thousand new 2020 Toyota Highlanders have thinner metal over the entire chassis than the previous model...so thin that when we put our hand on the side member above the doors to lean over the roof to fix paint defects the metal would dimple enough that most had to be fixed by the metal shop, later on in early production they claimed they increased the metal thickness to strengthen it but we still can't lean with our hand over the truck like we could with the previous model.
Number 5 is alive!
OMG, no safety sensors, Wonder what they did pre-2000? You remind me of Bob Saget.
It's a proper sports car, front engine, rear drive. No electronic bullshit. It might also try to kill you, but damn it is a sweet car.
Everytime you say “quirk” or “thisssssss”... I cringe. Besides that great video.
At least now days not a lot of people know how to drive a manual
Funny, whenever I took my car to the track i always turned those things off anyway.
Everybody gangsta till Doug DeMuro films in the white void
Two things I learned from this video: 1) The car is called "the Viper". 2) It's a "back to basics sports car".
A video about a car that happens to have a manual transmission: *exists* Americans: B3sT aNti-ThEfT 5ySTeM
You must be a millennial being afraid to drive a car that you actually have to drive and not rely on the nanny state to protect you from yourself. The fact that this car and others like it did NOT have built in baby sitters is the beauty of it
For me there is a difference of using cheap materials vs. using simple/functional design and overall lack of features for simplicity. As much as I want to love this former poster dream car I have to say that Lotus made a better job with introducing simplicity to sports cars with their first Elise again.
The doors.... No security. I don't get it... How does one even park the car without it getting stolen? 🤣🤣🤣
Those 30 year old tires are a deadly car crash waiting to happen if this car is taken out on the road at speeds over 30mph. Just ask Paul Walker.
Buy a first gen viper. It’s the best way to suicide!
Take it as a joke
Basically a super fast MX5-NB
Doug got Dad hips😂😂😂
I love Viper
Beste ever from Mr. DeMuro and the American automative industry (well sort of)
He almost talked about the interior 😂 for the whole video and I wanted to know about performance on a performance car
A 90's American car with a crappy interior.... say it ain't so.
I thought that was a giant scratch on the hood
This guy is annoying. Everything is not funny
Doug are u brain dead if any one bought a viper with no roof i think its going to be garage kept
He rambles on how the interior looks cheap *I drive a 2001 Durango 5.9*
This was always one of my favorite looking cars but i never knew it was a combination of Cristine and Death Proof
I used to daily drive a RAM 2500 with the 8.0 L V10. Im telling you when you put the peddle to the floor it took only a few seconds for that truck to hit 70 MPH. Thats an 8,000 lbs truck, now imagine that engine in a car the size of a Miata
That was brilliant, Doug! I laughed my ass off!!!!
Beautiful car with stupid and dangerous design.
I remember the show Cobra, I think it was called. With the viper that transformed into the indestructible Mary Sue panzercar... ...Only now I'm realizing how... ironic it was to pick Viper to be the hero car.
Goodness, 2 minutes in and I can't listen to that guy speak anymore.
I welded the cooler that sits directly behind the cross hair grill. ( I was in a team of 4 welders chosen for the Viper) We made them for the Viper from 92 thru 95. Modine manufacturing. It's still a thrill to see one (rarely) , and get down low and see that cooler that was so fun to make. It was a weird design with a pipe coming off the top with a weird bend and a little brace welded.on it. Aluminum tig welded. Glad.they are still holding up. Back then in a production meeting, we were told they were having alot of trouble getting that hood to mold consistently , that would have been early.93 I guess , just a little fun fact , they got it figured out. And I'm sure glad they did.
I was a kid when this dropped.. I thought it was one of the coolest cars ever. I’m pretty sure I had a poster of it hanging up in my room.
Always dodge a dodge. Like the shirt.
The only thing that would make me concearn if i was righ enought to buy one of these, was the ''rolls bars'' that doesn't exists. I know they created this car for who knows how to drive a powerfull car, not to your 16 years old son who thinks he's a driver. At least, it could have come with minimum safety acessories.
it was and still is the best looking viper to this day
Strangely this has many of the same quirky features of my 91 jeep yj 😂
A v10 with 400hp? Lol
it’s just an american miata.
I don't think it's meant to be a luxury car. Look at the old ferrari's they were so worried about being smooth. It's about the performance
No mention about the weird wipers? 🤔😢
HO MY FUKIN LORD i love that car so much, im due to import one to europe
Thiiisssss is the...
Airbags were not mandated in the USA until 1994. Most cars prior to 1994 did not have airbags. That’s not unusual for 1992.
You said no a/c as you showed all the a/c controls. Im confused.
It had a heater, which was mandatory as per federal law. There was no A/C. While you could choose to blow fresh "cool" air from the outside, it would not be chilled by any mechanical means.
Caged heat I like that
I noticed how the front of the car looks like an actual snake
Imagine getting pulled over and you have to tell the police officer to unzip your window
12:12 upshift light... lame...
@Steve Acho yeah i remember a buddy of mine had an old chevy s10 that had it. the light would come on around 2000rpm. light was utterly useless for being a guide to shifting. really not sure anyone ever used them???
That was pretty common in the 1990's.
really cheap interior in them too. terrible for the price.
Always wanted a Viper
The real Banshee car from GTA 3 and GTA San Andreas
When you got out of that car and me being short I burnt my calves so many times
why is it terrifying? I learned driving WITHOUT any Electronic Safety Systems. Nothing spüecial about this. Well, okay, todays Kids think they can drive caise playing Playstation is mostly the same like driving a modern Car. *LOL*
@Christian Meier I'm not letting a 3rd world citizen talk to me like that, damn yank.
@Christian Meier I can tell that you're obese, greying, and balding just by the way you talk. Reeking of self important superiority while having none of it.
@Christian Meier I drive a deathtrap 90's toyota, i'm not gonna get called a snowflake by the bitchiest most whiny generation that got everything handed to them, boomer.
@i have waited 90 days to change my name finally this is one of the moments where a "shut up SNOWFLAKE" is well deserved ;-) Get a life, grow some balls and learn driving real cars Kid.
This is one of those moments where a "ok boomer" is well deserved.
400hp from a 8.0l V10 lol. Get that from a 1.4 these days
Considering the Ford Mustang 5.0 V8 had only 225 hp at the time, it sounded like a lot.
All I remember is XxX when they drive off the bridge. Lol
I know of a guy who had two Vipers stolen from his home in Queens.
No, you mean 400hp and 450lb-ft of torque.
wth.. is that a transformer at 1:42
"Generic Chrysler Stereo" would be a cool band name.
I read this and thought of this video. Why the Viper will kill you from the engineers:www.roadandtrack.com/car-culture/a36039737/what-made-the-original-dodge-viper-the-most-dangerous-modern-sports-car/
I saw one at a car show in Satellite Beach, FL a few months back. It was awesome!
Wow
It was the fastest car in gta 3
I built the model of this car back in 92. Went awesome with my stealth bomber
Modern day Shelby Cobra...... one of the most beautiful iconic sports cars of all time.... to this.... the ugliest car ever made!?
ITS SO P U R E
perhaps i'm wrong here. But for car with 8L V10 engine, the engine sound is so smooth.
This guy is the type of guy to read the cars owners manual and correct the manufacturer on something in it
A hero
"No electronic aids" Yeah, we had to have skill back in the day, son.
I know a guy who had a viper, he immediately threw the biggest spooly boi he could on it and drove it straight into a ditch
I’ll take a viper over a cobra any day
Our “paper mill” made a fiberglass mat product that was used for insulation in the side pipes because the test driver was burning his leg. We thought that was cool
Für mich die einzige Viper.
Door handles? Where we're going we don't need door handles
I can take the key out of my 86 4Runner while it’s running without an issue. Hell if I take a corner too fast, (and I say that relatively because it’s an 86 4Runner... probably the most opposite of a viper you can get) they key will fly out of the ignition
This car wants to kill you
no wonder the viper is discontinued, its one of the lowest quality cars ever made, hard plastics at its best
@Mic Dib Its not just the interior, its everything, the whole car is designed as cheap as it possibly can be... but they tried to sell it for a ´real´ sports car price, i dont doubt this cars speed and handling but the rest is a big zero.
? You think the interior quality represents the entire car? 🤣🤣
That car is stupid lol
I love all kinds of cars for all kinds of reasons. If (or when) I win the lottery the usual car choices of a lottery winner maybe tried at some point but the Dodge Viper is where I have always wanted to be first. I believe that me and that beast would gel. It’s got such appeal to me but each to their own. I understand the Ferrari Porsche Lamborghini Aston thing but the Dodge Viper touches me in more places. Only ever seen one on the uk roads. It was black. I knew instantly what it was.
His laughing every 3 seconds and the ads are getting on my nerves 😬
"The hood is one of the largest single panels in a production car" *Laughs in Karmann Ghia*
The Vipers hood is bigger than that entire car....
Why are you comparing the size of this car to a Miata?? The Viper is *huge* compared to the Miata. 175 inches long, Miata was like 155 inches.
So if that thing had no Air Conditioning, what is the dash climate control unit and AC dash air vents for?????
The Grimm Reaper on wheels.
So in the 80s, the USA passed a law requireing passive supplemental restratint in cars. That would be either airbags or seatbelts attached to doors, which could be classified as "passive restraint." Since that was cheaper than airbags, manufacturers did that, saying they could leave the seatbelt plugged in and open the door to allow for a passive restraitng system. Eventually, the USA passed legislitraiton requiring airbags, as opposed to just a generic "passive restraint."
This car was rushed to the stores by MOPAR to fulfill the requirement by many racing series that the car must have production for consumers to be allowed on the track in a non prototype race. The biggest problem with this car was not the car. It was management. In their infinite wisdom, they put tires on these beasts that were barely considered to be sports tires. People who bought this car would jump in it. Press the pedal to the floor. Proceed into nearest solid object as the car lost all control from lack of grip.
LMAO!!!!!. -__-
It's a car with the safety features of a motorcycle.
Why would you buy this viper when you could get a TVR
Because a TVR is worse.
This car is a true automotive 1 off! I mean how do you get only 400 bhp from a 8L V10? that in its self is amazing????
07:50. lmao doug knows i can replicate a key from a video. hahaha
American car. Wont go round corners
Not remotely true. Carroll Shelby helped develop it, and it was designed to corner and brake like a Cobra. You're mistaking it with cars like the Ford Mustang or Chevrolet Camaro, which really couldn't corner for shit.
Not only did my grandfather have a new one in 92, he raced it too. Now I realize he was insane
23:40 doug in Los Santos
The Last True Pure American Muscle Car!
The jealous egypt acceptably promise because yew postsurgically unite save a oval appendix. hypnotic, early effect
All that cost and no money for leg room. Sports cars like this were made for rich successful short men who got stuffed into their lockers during their Highschool years.
Imagine renting your car to some dude, only to see it on SEslow get roasted
